Spring Garden Restoration Project

1 min read

A dedicated team of volunteers has been working tirelessly to restore the rear gardens and War Memorial grounds at Monikie Memorial Hall. The project, which began in early 2026, aims to create a welcoming outdoor space for the whole community to enjoy.

Bringing the Gardens Back to Life

Over the years, the gardens had become overgrown and difficult to maintain. Local volunteers stepped forward to clear, replant, and landscape the grounds, with a particular focus on the area surrounding the War Memorial.

New planting includes native shrubs, seasonal flowers, and low-maintenance ground cover designed to look beautiful year-round while respecting the memorial setting.

Community Involvement

The project has been a true community effort. Local businesses have donated materials, and residents of all ages have given their time at weekend working sessions.

Want to help? Volunteer sessions take place on the first Saturday of each month from 10am. Just turn up — all welcome!

The committee hopes to have the gardens fully restored by early summer, in time for outdoor events and gatherings.
